Traditional Masonry Fireplaces
Masonry fireplaces are an efficient but less conventional way to provide heat for homes. These types of stoves and fireplaces are designed to burn a very hot fire, which means that the chimney damper stays open to ensure that there is always a lot of air available. The masonry that makes up the fireplace absorbs the high amount of heat from these big fires and radiates that heat into the room over time. Since these masonry fireplaces function differently than more conventional fireplaces, you need a specialist to deal with repairing them.
Inserts: Zero Clearance
Zero Clearance means that a fireplace can be surrounded by combustible materials without fear of them igniting. Each zero clearance fireplace has its own limitations, which means that combustible building materials might be able to be installed against the body of the fireplace without fear of combustion or heat damage. We install these kinds of fireplaces.
Leak Fixes
Blackwell Masonry provides water and smoke repairs for fireplaces that suffer from those problems. We can also install and repair terracotta tile hearths for fireplaces. Terracotta hearth tiles are crafted from a variety of quality stone and ceramic materials, and finished for maximum durability. Teracotta tiles are porous, brick coloured, clay floor tiles that come in various sizes and make excellent hearths for fireplaces.
